Family Circles is a culturally grounded initiative rooted in the vision and leadership of Lac du Flambeau tribal elders, culture keepers, and community members who originally founded the program in 1989. Their work established a foundation grounded in traditional Native values, teachings, and Indigenous ways of being - centered on strengthening identity, family, and community.
Building on that foundation, Family Circles continues to support healing, growth, and connection within individuals, families, and communities. The program creates space to explore identity, strengthen relationships, and address the impacts of substance use and dysfunction in meaningful and culturally relevant ways.
Informed by both community-rooted origins and decades of experience in Native education, behavioral health, and community-based programming, Family Circles brings together prevention, learning, and cultural connection into a unified approach that meets people where they are.
